Fly Casting Analyzer
The Texas Fly Fishing School has the Fly Casting Analyzer developed by 3M/Scientific Anglers’ Bruce Richards and University of Michigan professor Dr. Noel Perkins.
The Fly Casting Analyzer is specifically designed to be a tool for fly casting schools, instructors, and any avid student of fly casting. By no means does it replace the need for good fly casting instruction by qualified instructors. Instead, this tool adds completely new capabilities for fly casting instruction by providing a quantitative way to measure and then analyze the casting stroke. Some of the common uses of the Fly Casting Analyzer during instruction include:
- Measuring fast and/or subtle rod motions that are undetectable by eye
- Immediately displaying a student's casting stroke
- Immediately analyzing a student's casting stoke and pin-pointing problems
- Comparing a student's casting stroke to an expert's stroke
- Comparing a student's casting stroke to the instructor’s stroke
- Comparing the student's casting strokes before vs. after instruction
- Automatically creating a written a report for the student
- Quantifying and documenting the progress of students
